I know I haven't posted any new projects lately but it has just been a busy past few months here at A Petite Cottage. Well, with getting ready for my daughter's Prom, High School Graduation,  College!...(I know) and a 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration for my parents well, I have been one nonstop, busy, little bee. 

 

But no matter how busy life may get I have always believed that it is very important to remember to stop and enjoy the roses coffee filter peonies...Hee, hee, hee!  And to always...

Live in awe,

Love with all your heart
and

Laugh until your mascara runs :-)

 

 

 

Will share soon some sewing projects I've been working on for my daughter, hubby and I to wear for my parents wedding celebration. (They're renewing their vows, cute, right?)

20 Wonderful Years

Today is our

 

20th Wedding Anniversary!

I can't believe how time has flown. It feels like only yesterday. The only difference is my love is greater and stronger for my wonderful hubby. I am blessed beyond words.

Awareness Day

Hi Everyone!

Today is
National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day.

Fibromyalgia (FM or FMS) is defined as: 
A chronic disorder/syndrome characterized by widespread pain, tenderness, and stiffness of muscles and associated connective tissue structures that is typically accompanied by fatigue, headache, sleep disturbances and an array of other symptoms.

A little over a year ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Although I still don't fully understand or have fully accepted it I do battle with it each and every day. I thought long and hard about writing this post, believe me, I know all about the stigma of having this condition.  But it was very important for my own personal acceptance process to share.

Although many Fibromyalgia sufferers share many of the same distinctive symptoms, no two cases are exactly the same. Below is how I dbefine my FMS:

F atigue
I rritability
B rain Fog
R estless leg syndrome
O verlapping symptoms
M uscle and joint pain
Y ou never feel well
A nxiety
L oss of a good night and rested sleep
G rief and worry to the power of 10
I n pain all the time (Although some days there is less than others)
A llodynia (Overly sensitive to touch)

There is no cure for this condition but I do have hope that one day there will be. Awareness is the first step.

Guest Post

Hello dear Bloggers, my name is Jose, or better know on this blog as Ana's hubby. She's been after me for quite some time to do a guest post, so I decided to finally oblige as she has been working on a project that I am very excited about.

Every once in a while, I will challenge my better half to do something that stretches her creative abilities, knowing full well that when everything is said and done, she will always exceed every one of my expectation. As I'm sure many of you are familiar with the "creative process", you'll understand when I say that it is sometimes a very unpleasant experience to watch, especially when that person is as much a perfectionist as my wife is. But the product of Ana's creativity never cease to amaze me.

 I have always loved science fiction. I remember growing up being glued to the television monitor while watching shows like The Time Tunnel, Land of the Giants, and Lost in Space. You might even call Sci Fi an obsession of mine. Being referred to as a "nerd" or "geek" has never bothered me. I wear those badges with honor.

About a year ago, Ana and I had just finished watching the TV series called Serenity and we were looking for a new show to watch. Someone recommended Doctor Who, the story of a Time Lord who uses a blue police box to travel through time. Needless to say, we've been hooked ever since. We enjoy the show so much, that when the opportunity presented itself, I quickly suggested Doctor Who as inspiration for one of her cloth doll designs. And just to make sure that she would bite the lure, I added that it would probably be much too difficult to make such a doll. Well, the rest is history. Without further ado, I am proud to unveil the project that has consumed my wife's time for the last couple of months. Hope you like it as much as I do.

Meet the 10th Doctor, our favorite. And for you Whovians out there, yes, this is the wrong TARDIS background, but as River Song would say, "spoilers" ;-)
