Golden Day!

Happy May Everyone!

Today is a very special golden day.
Today is my Mom and Dad-in-law's love

50th Wedding Anniversary
I've been truly blessed with wonderful, loving and caring in-laws.
This is a little golden box filled with golden Hersey Kisses wedding favor I made for them to hand out at the renewing of their vows church ceremony.

Felices Bodas de Oro!
Love you mucho, mucho Mom and Dad.

Another sweet reason this day is a special golden day is because our petite cottage is being featured over at Nancy's  A Joyful Cottage blog in her weekly series called Living Large in Small Spaces.  It has been such a sweet honor. Thank you Nancy. Please, wont you stop by and say hello to Nancy and maybe stay a bit to read the feature. To visit you can click here

Thank you for stopping by for a visit.
Wishing you all a very wonderful

Golden May.

Storage and Lighting

Hi Everyone!
Here are two more projects that I've checked off my To Do List of sewing space projects.

The first is...
This book case that we repurposed. We had already put the curtains up when I took pictures for my previous post but it was still empty inside. So what's behind the curtains?
Let's take a looksy.
Bins and bins filled with all my crafting/sewing supplies. No more running out to the garage to get what I need. Yay!!!
This was an easy transformation. Hubby attached a small curtain rod, which I already had from a previous kitchen window redo project, onto the book case. Then I added curtains, which I already had too. I just had to hem them a bit. Easy peasy. I am loving all the new extra storage.
Next project was changing a wall light fixture. Hubby did this one all by himself though. Well I did add the pretty little tassels...Hee, Hee, Hee.
I found this fixture a while back at a flea market and I am so happy that it has finally found a home. So pretty.

Slowly but surely my petite space is coming along.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit.
Wishing you a wonderful day.

New Old Chair

I have come to the realization that it is going to take me a little longer than I had hoped for to get my new petite sewing space ready for a reveal. So...I have decided to share the projects I work on for this space as I finish them, and when they are all done I will share with you the completed space.

First project was the "Sew Creative" sign (here)  And now on to the second project...

A slipcover for my new old chair.
Found this chair at a local thrift shop. Actually my hubby spotted it and showed it to me. At first I wasn't sure where I would use it but Hubby insisted that I should take it for my sewing room. Later I found out that it was a chair actually designed for a sewing machine table like the one my grandmother handed down to me. I was thrilled and so thankful Hubby insisted I take it. The seat lifts up for extra storage. Which I also found out later when we got it home and turned it upside down to place felt chair leg caps on it. Yay!
The original brown upholstery was okay, I guess....But I just had to give it a little makeover.
The sweet needlepoint rose embellishment is from an unfinished vintage piece I found at an antique mall several years ago. There was some damage and pretty bad stains on it but I was able to salvage the main rose. I thought it was perfect for my chair.
Here is a closer look. I am so happy that I was able to use it.
And here is the back. If you are wondering if I still have access to the seat storage the answer is yes.
All I have to do is unsap the center flaps and lift.

Okay, two projects down...

Wishing everyone one a wonderful new week.

Embracing the gray streak

The very first time I noticed a gray hair, I am not going to lie to you, I was a little shocked.
Elsa Lanchester as The Bride of Frankenstein

Then slowly, with time, more started showing up. I'm sad to admit that they made me feel like, well a mutant. (Get it? Rogue is a human mutant from X-Men)
Anna Paquin as Rogue

And a "munsterous" thougt overwhelmed me..."I am not only getting older but now it's really showing."
Yvonne De Carlo as Lily Munster

But hey, I must admit that I am in good company, right?...Although these women can sometimes be a little misunderstood, but then who isn't, they are strong beautiful and very, very unique.
Here's a closer look...YIKES!!! ;-)
Embracing my gray hair streak...Hee, hee, hee.
