Summer Project Teaser!

H ey everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend. My hubby was off all week. Yay! So we got to enjoy some family vacation time before my daughter starts school. We decided to stay home and visit some of the beautiful places around here. It's amazing how many nice places to visit there are near home, some that we've never been to and others that we very rarely go to. We had so much fun. Anyway, my hubby is back at work today and my daughter starts school next week. We have one more week until summer is officially over for us, and there is one thing I would love to finish before it does. Our Summer Project. It is almost ready for a reveal, but not just yet. However I would love to share with you some teaser pictures.

Please stay tune for Our Big Reveal! I will be working extra hard and fast this week to have everything ready before our summer is officially over. Thank you so much for stopping by. Hope you come back and visit again real soon.

H appy Monday everyone! Today I will be sharing my latest project tackled. It's sort of a small project. It's a mini makeover I gave this beautiful gold colored frame. I bought this frame especially for a Christie Repasy print my hubby gave me last Christmas. It took me awhile to find it because not just any old frame would do. After all it would be framing a "Repasy".

Then one day I found it...perfect size , style and price at a thrift store. Can you believe I only paid $1.50!!!

And can you believe the original price was $39.99?!

I wasn't too thrilled with the gold finish so I decided to shabby chic it...I painted it white.

I think it's much better now.

I love white paint! Isn't it amazing what a little time and a little paint can do!

Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit.

I do hope you enjoyed your stay and that you will drop on by again real soon.

Have a wonderful Monday!

Big Summer Project Update

A few weeks ago I hinted on a summer project my Hubby and I were working on. Well, I just thought I would give you an update. It is not completely done yet, but I'll share with you our progress thus far.

Outside the sliding french doors of our bedroom is an area I have dreamt of getting to for a while. A perfect spot for a patio. It took some sweet talk but I finally convinced my sweet, wonderful, awesome Hubby to tackle it. First task at hand was to pull up all that the crab grass. Not an easy task, let me tell you.

Next was to level the grown. Here is my hubby in the back directing the project and my very sweet brother-in-law who was just there to drop off the brick tiles and ended up giving us a hand. Thank you Victor!

This is our nephew pounding the ground to compact it. He makes it look so easy...that thing is heavy. Thank you Joe for all your hard work.

Taking a little break in the shade with Cookie.

These beautiful girls are my niece and my daughter with Bon Bon, (my Mom's Chihuahua) who also gave us a hand...thanks girls.

This is the following day. We (and by "we" I mean my Hubby) tackled laying the tiles down. He worked so hard, what a Sweetie.

Almost done with the tiles. Cookie is taking advantage of the shade...boy was it hot that day!

And here you have it, the patio floor done!! Yay! Great job Sweetie! Of course this is only phase one of our Big Summer Project. There is still more to be done so please stay tune for more updates.

Thank you so much for dropping by.

Have an amazing day!

White Wednesday!

W elcome everyone! Today is "White Wednesday" over at Faded Charm. This wonderful weekly event is hosted by the very lovely Kathleen. She has dedicated Wednesdays to all things that are white and to all those who love and cherished them.

I must admit, I do love white and my Petite Cottage is full of white things that I cherish. Today, however, I will be focusing only on one. My most cherished item. My white, newly refurbished 1950's O'Keefe & Merritt stove.

This beautiful piece of art was given to me by my wonderful Aunt Maria. She had this stove ever since I could remember. I recall as a girl telling her that I loved her stove and that I would love to have it if she ever decided to let go of it.

She loves to cook and feed her family, and as her family grew larger and larger (she is the proud mom of 8 kids, grandma of... I lost count on how many grand kids, I think it's about 25+ and great grandma of about a dozen and great-great grandmom of 1 or two. It so hard to keep track.) she found her stove to be too small. When she bought a new and bigger stove she remember what I had said and ask if I was still interested.

Wow! She remembered. Of course, after I stopped jumping up and down with joy, I said YES! Sadly it sat in my garage for about a year and a half (below) before it claimed its rightful place in our kitchen. The kitchen was too small to hold this size stove. But when we finally decided it was time to guessed it, I designed the whole kitchen around my beautiful stove.

I love, love, love my White O'Keefe & Merritt stove.

Run on over to Faded Charm and check out what others are sharing on this very lovely "White Wednesday."

Thank you for visiting.

Have a wonderful White Wednesday!

Decoupage Projects

H ey everyone. Today I would like to start by making a correction to a post I did a few days ago. In my Birdhouse Makeover post I claimed to had decoupage only twice before, but I lied. Well, not on purpose, I simply forgot one other project I had done.

The two projects I was thinking about were this one of utensils, which you might recognize. (They're on my blog's sidebar.) And my very first one, which was a bed tray that I decoupage with french inspired designs for my daughter's room. Sadly she no longer has it so I have no pictures to show you :-(

This was the project I was forgetting. I'm not sure how I could have forgotten since I see it every day in ......"The Loo"

"Il Gabinetto"

"El Baño"

"La Toilette"

Can you believe those were frames from the 99 cent store? I made these out of some scrap booking paper as a background, some prints by Martha Furman I found on-line and four flat canvases I purchased at Michael's. Anyway, I just thought I would clarify my error :-) Wishing you all an awesome Monday!

Have a wonderful day!

I love company so come visit again real soon!

Chippy Paint Friday!

Y ay! Today is Friday, but not just any Friday. It's Chippy Paint Friday over at The Faded Cottage, hosted by the lovely Janice. Today is when we get to show off our treasured items that have been naturally chipped, weathered and faded.

On this fabulous Friday I will be showing off one of most favorite pieces. This trunk/chest center table was a gift from my cousin who just so happens to love all things shabby too.

I don't know what it is about vintage, weathered, chippy furniture that just makes my heart melt. I must admit some people think I am absolutely crazy... my Dad, for example, he would say I'm mad to waste my money on junk. But what can I say...I can see the beauty in a piece like this.
Just look at the detail on this knob. I love it.

I love this look so much I have been known to recreate it on other pieces, whether they are vintage or not. However, there is nothing like a piece that has naturally, with time, become a Chippy Paint Treasure. Please hop on over to Janice's at The Faded Cottage to say hello, and tell her Ana sent you.

Thank you so much for dropping by.

Wishing you all a great weekend.
