Have Any Ironing Tips For Me?

T oday is ironing day! I must admit, it's not a particular favorite chore of mine, but it must be done. I've been ironing the same old way ever since....well ever since my mom taught me when I was a young girl. It wasn't until recently that I was given a tip on how to use the ironing board "more efficiently".

Instead of using the round end of the board, like I've been doing all my ironing life, one is suppose to use the wider, squared end. By the way, this works especially well on shirts and blouses! Honestly it took me a while to get use to doing it this way, but now I wouldn't go back!

Why am I telling you all this? Well today, as I was getting ready to tackle my chores, I thought to myself, "Ummm! I wonder if there are any other tips out there that could make this job easier and maybe even a little enjoyable?" Then I thought, "I know who I'll ask....My Blog Friends." If anyone out there has any ironing tips and is willing to share them with me. PLEASE!!!! I will definitely try anything.

Wait that just gave me an idea! I will try any and all tips you may have for me and after I do I will post on which ones gave me the best results. Won't that be fun? Wow! I just gave myself a reason to look forward to ironing next week. Yay!!!! Can't wait !

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Wishing you all a beautiful and awesome Monday!

Family Tree

F amily is very important to my husband and me. It is also very important to us that our daughter appreciates and knows who her family is, even if some members are no longer with us. So, in honor of our family, we have dedicated a special place in our home just for them.

This is what it looked like before. Originally it had no frame around it. A very good friend helped us frame it out. Now all it needs is a little paint on the frame and a bit of creativity.

I know it's a bit cliché, but I think it works. Don't you?

I'm very happy to present to you our FaMiLy!

Repurposed Tray!

R ecently I've seen these beautiful chalkboard trays everywhere. I think they're absolutely wonderful, so much so that I just had to have one of my very own! :-) So I thought to myself, I have some chalkboard paint from a previous project and I have a small tray tucked away that can definitely be repurposed.....why not make one myself?

First I prepared the tray. I gave it a good cleaning making sure I had a nice clean surface for the paint then I put painter's tape around the border so that I would get a straight, clean edge all the way around. And finally I gave it a couple coats of black chalkboard paint, making sure every coat was dry before I put on the next.

Since this tray has no handles, my wonderful, charming, always ready to assist hubby, drill tiny holes on the side of the tray so that I may run some ribbon through for hanging. Also, this way I have the option of changing out the ribbon.

And here it is, finished and in its new home.

I really do like how it turned out. I love my new chalkboard tray!

So there you have it, one more project completed. Yay! And now on to the next.

Thanks everyone for dropping by. I sure do enjoy your company and I truly do appreciate all those sweet comments you leave me. Thank you so much!

Have wonderfully creative day!

Happy 1st Day of Autumn

To celebrate this autumn day

I have some words I want to say.

For you my friends this poem I post

To all who love this season most.

What joyful colors make up fall.

So bright and cheery, I love them all.

Orange, yellows, reds and browns,

Are found across the open grounds.

So wont you stop and look to see.

How pretty fall can surely be.

Happy 1st Day of Autumn Everyone!

Clever and Creative or Simply Insane?

I don't know about anybody else, but I certainly don't like the look of modern electronics. They just don't go with the romantic cottage style I'm going for. However, I'm the first to admit that I can't possibly function without them. So what to do? Here's a little challenge for you. Can you find my husband's alarm clock on his night stand?

Here's a closer look...Still can't find it?

Let's see what's under here.

Um, there's nothing there.

Maybe under here? Yay! There it is!

All I did was cut off the bottom and a little square from the back (for the cord) of this cute little basket. Oh yes! I also glued the ends of the basket weave so it wouldn't come apart.

And all my hubby has to do is lift it out of the way at night and in the morning I just put it back in its place. Clever huh? Or do you think it's a totally crazy idea? My hubby said you'd all think it was crazy. I know he thinks it's crazy.....but he loves me and my crazy ideas anyways. Right Sweetie? I do hope there's a least one more person out there that thinks this idea is as clever and creative as I think it is. Anyone? :-D

Thanks for stopping by!

Wishing everyone a wonderfully creative day!

Shabby Chic Digital Frame

I t's Transformation Thursday today over at Gina's, The Shabby Chic Cottage and I'm joining in the fun! Can't wait until you see what I've done. So keep on scrolling down!:-)

A couple of birthdays ago my dad, who happens to love everything high tech, gave me this awesome Digital Photo Frame.

But it didn't really go with my home decor! The frame was too plain, kind of modern. What to do? Well, if you know me, you know that I can never leave well enough alone. I just had to shabby chic it somehow.

I started by pulling it apart. Good thing it came with two frames, just in case I messed one up. :-)

We had some molding left over from a home improvement project so I asked my hubby if he would miter the corners and make a frame for me. The original frames aren't real wood so I decided to epoxy the molding to the frame. Didn't want to risk breaking the frame when drilling or nailing. The reason why I decided to do it this way instead of just getting a ready made frame for it was because the digital frame was not an ordinary frame, it was especially adapted for the screen. And if you're wondering why I just didn't paint the frame it came with well, it just wasn't shabby chic enough.

I used some wood filler to clean up the corners and gave it a shabby chic paint job. Oh! the little dot you see in the bottom center of the frame is a hole my hubby drilled for the remote censor. Clever huh?

Here it is finished and displayed proudly. Finally it fits in!

And this is what the frame looks like turned on. The flower you see on top belongs to a plate stand. I just hung it over the frame for a bit more shabby chicness. The kids in the picture are my daughter and her best friend since kinder. I am so happy with how this project turned out. Just goes to show you there is nothing that can't be "shabby chiced"

Why not run on over to Gina's and check out what others are sharing today! (just click on the Transformation Thursday Button at the beginning of my post.)

Have a wonderful day!

Please stop by and visit again soon.
